Our story         

Adirondack Wilderness Medicine (AdkWildMed) provides medical and rescue training for remote environments to backcountry travelers, expedition medical officers, outdoor guides, camp counselors as well as EMS & fire professionals, SAR teams and companies with employees in remote locations.
​We also provide Basic Disaster Medical Response ©, Community and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, Bloodborne Pathogen training and Emergency Response in the Workplace.  AdkWildMed also offers Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support for healthcare providers.

AdkWildMed was formed in the Adirondack Mountains of NY in 2004 by Clark Hayward, an active paramedic, a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, an active ski patroller and former licensed outdoor guide.
Shortly after formation AdkWildMed teamed up with SOLO Wilderness Medical School of Conway NH, as an independent provider of SOLO's internationally recognized Wilderness Medicine programs.
